Come celebrate Emerson’s own alumni Entrepreneurs with Career Services and the Student Alumni Association on November 9th at 6pm in the Multipurpose Room at Piano Row!
We will be hosting an event for students to connect with graduates of Emerson College who have become established entrepreneurs in their fields. Come prepared with questions to ask them about anything, from running your own business, to their career experiences, to the industry in general!
The featured alumni joining us for the evening are:
Tripp Clemens ’13
Tripp is a Partner and Editor at Windy Films, a production company dedicated to telling stories of social impact. Windy Films is headquartered in Boston and was featured in Forbes. Tripp also co-founded and directed The Emerson Accelerator program for student entrepreneurship. Upon graduation in 2013, Tripp received a BFA in Film Production.
Christopher Dobens ’16
Christopher is a Social Media Content Coordinator at 451 Marketing. As a student, he co-founded Boston Strong and Greeks That Speak. Following the Boston Marathon tragedy, Christopher and his two partners created the iconic Boston Strong t-shirt. To date, almost 70,000 t-shirts have been sold and over $1 million has been raised for The One Fund Center. Christopher graduated with a Marketing Communication degree in 2016.
Morgan First ’05
Morgan is Co-Founder and CEO of Second Glass. Second Glass develops online and mobile tools for both wine consumers and wine producers, creates a plethora of editorial content and hosts Wine Riot, a huge, innovate and interactive wine event across the US. Morgan was named INC Magazine’s 30 Under 30 Coolest Young Entrepreneurs in 2010. Morgan graduated from Emerson with a degree in Marketing Communication.
Patrick Maloney ’98
Patrick is the Founder and President of Blue Fire Coffee Roasters, Inc. Blue Fire Coffee Roasters is a family owned specialty micro-roasting company. Patrick has over a decade of experience in specialty coffee, all aspects of roasting operations, green coffee sourcing, and business operations. Patrick graduated in 1998 with a degree in Mass Communications.
Maya Rafie ’16
Maya is the Founder and Owner of bistara.com, an online marketplace to hire college students for freelance opportunities. Bistara was featured in Forbes and VentureFizz. Maya won second place at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) Boston Regional Competition. In 2016, Maya graduated Emerson with a degree in Marketing Communications.
Networking not your strong suit? Here are some tips to keep in mind that will have you networking like a pro:
- Do your research – find them at their website or on LinkedIn to get more information about them
- Prepare questions in advance to ask
- Don’t be afraid to ask for a business card so you can contact them in the future
- Share your ideas and information with the entrepreneurs too
