TIP TUESDAY: Still Amazing, Still Blazing Trails

If you’re noticing the expectant looks on the faces of parents and young adults carting around their belongings into dorms (or on the crowded streets of Boylston or Summer streets if you’re in Boston) you may well be aware of back to school season: higher ed version.

In Student Affairs, we’re fielding questions and introducing incoming students to the value of what we do, and being a bridge from their academic training to career. Ultimately we’re sharing three things:

  1. It’s a process
  2. Every human goes through it and develops career for LIFE!
  3. We’re excited to help people realize their potential and their dreams.

But I’m not done with lists yet. In the spirit of the journey that is Education, below is a top list of things you can do to re-learn info about the career development center and services for you, and for the chance to work with students if you’re itching to head back to Emerson! Some of this info is similar to past pieces, but bear with me as I attempt a best practice in the world of marketing communication: things have to be stated more than once for folks to remember.

I’m sure Anders Croft can back me up on this. 🙂

Bookmark this list below, jot down some ideas, and contact us. We’re your partners, and collaborators!

  1. Stuck in a career rut? Use your resources. Often alumni wonder if they can still use Emerson for career support and we a great library of resources and career counseling staff here to help you.
  2. Use CareerBuzz to stay informed about local and national career events. We have you in mind as well when we promote events. Stay informed and take advantage of opportunities to network and learn.
  3. Stay in the loop about alumni destinations.  Each year it’s great to see where recent graduates land.
  4. Spread the word about the Career Advisory Network. Starting here in Boston, this is a great opportunity to work with the senior class of 2019. Spread the word!
  5. Help us develop our career community. Have suggestions for us, or want to share your story? We are always eager to connect with alumni and learn about what’s going on in your industry. Contact us at careers@emerson.edu.

Way back when, and now, the mark of an Emerson alum brings with it something unique, innovative and of course influential in the arts and communication. Keep this in mind as you wonder about the mark you want to make in your career. From our work in the career development center, it’s quite clear that Emerson students are still amazing, and still blazing trails for the storytellers of the future. But I’m preaching to the choir. 🙂

And let’s all welcome the Class of 2022!
